📄 Setting up Eduframe and Brightspace connection

Why do participants not see the course in Brightspace?

Check the following:

  • Eduframe creates the course offering inactive. Make the course offering active in Brightspace when it is ready for the participants.

  • The course edition must be published. Open the tab 'Brightspace' of the course edition.

  • A participant role must be set in 'Role links'.

  • The enrollment must be confirmed, active or ended. A canceled enrollment is removed from Brightspace.

  • The start and end date of the course offering in Brightspace can limit access. See 'Dates in Brightspace' on the course edition.

  • Check the Integration log of the course edition for failed or skipped actions.

Why can I not publish a course edition?

The department of the course template is not linked to a Brightspace department. Link the department in 'Department links' and click on 'Publish' again.

The course templates and course offerings stay in Brightspace, but changes to them are no longer sent to Brightspace until you link the department again. Course editions that are not published yet cannot be published. When you link the department again, every published course edition is brought up to date. Read more in 📄 Brightspace - Integration.

What happens when I move a course template to another department?

When the new department is linked, Eduframe moves the course template and its course offerings to the linked Brightspace department. When the new department is not linked, the course template stays where it is in Brightspace and changes are no longer sent, just like when you unlink a department. As soon as the course template is in a linked department again, its published course editions are brought up to date.

Why is a teacher not in Brightspace?

Eduframe only enrolls teachers whose teacher role is linked to a Brightspace role in 'Role links'. The warning at the top of 'Role links' shows how many teachers are not in Brightspace for this reason. When you link the role, Eduframe enrolls them.

What happens when I cancel or delete a course edition?

The course offering stays in Brightspace. Unpublish the course edition first: Eduframe then archives the course offering in Brightspace.

Can Eduframe create sections or semesters in Brightspace?

No. Eduframe does not use sections and semesters in Brightspace. You can add them in Brightspace yourself.

Does Eduframe send e-mail addresses to Brightspace?

No. Eduframe sends the name and the Principal ID of participants and teachers, without e-mail address.

What happens when I change a course offering in Brightspace?

Eduframe overwrites the name, code and dates of the course offering after the next change in Eduframe. Other settings, such as active and description, are not changed by Eduframe. Use 'Dates in Brightspace' on the course edition to give the course offering other dates.

What happens when the connection with Brightspace or Eduframe stops working?

The home page of the integration shows a warning and the Integration log shows 'Brightspace connection lost' or 'Eduframe connection lost'. For Brightspace, check the 'Brightspace credentials' and click on 'Test connection'. For Eduframe, log in with the technical user and click on 'Use my access token' in 'Eduframe credentials' again.

Note: Changes made while the connection did not work are not sent again automatically. Some of them show as failed with reason 'Connection down' in the Integration log, others are not logged. Check the changes made in that period, or contact Drieam support.

How can I export grades from Brightspace to Eduframe?

Open the course offering in Brightspace, open the Eduframe tool in the navigation bar and click on 'Export grades'. Read more in 📄 Brightspace - Integration.
